WOW

Walk on Wednesday was such a huge success. Everybody made a huge effort to walk, scoot and ride to school.

In class, we counted and recorded how many people walked to school. We got stickers and colouring books from the RSA.

Well done everyone!

**If you were not able to walk on Wednesday why not WAW (Walk at the Weekend)?**

WOW – Walk on Wednesday

Dear Parents,

We are working towards our Green Flag for Travel.

The overall aim of the Green-Schools Travel Programme is to encourage students, teachers and parents to walk, scoot, park ‘n’ stride or car-pool instead of using the private car on the school run.

This week we are launching our Walk on Wednesday (W.O.W) initiative.  It will be a fun-filled, colourful day full of green activities taking place throughout the school day.

We will run a Class League to encourage participation every Wednesday.  Your child can score a Walk on Wednesday point by using one of the following travel modes to school:

  • Walking
  • Scooting
  • Park and walk to school for at least 5 minutes
  • Car-pooling with a neighbour/classmates

These points will be recorded by the class teacher and prizes will be awarded to classes making great strides!

Please remember your hi-vis vests and Safe Cross Code when travelling!

We really appreciate your help with this and fully understand that it is not always possible to participate.

Many thanks,

The Green Team, Ms O’Neill, Ms O’Reilly

The Lonely Beast

(who wasn’t so lonely in room 3 this Valentine’s Day!!).

We enjoyed reading The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge today. We read another of his books called the The Great Explorer before Christmas. Isaac brought it to school and we enjoyed that one so much too.

Today we imagined all the lovely places we would take the Lonely Beast if he came to visit us. Here are some of those places:

Dave’s Jungle

The jungle came to the halla last week. We met some really interesting and unusual animals. We even got to hold them. Dave brought tarantula, snakes, a water monitor, a snapping turtle and an alligator. It was so exciting.

Jake makes a return

Look who came back to see us…

DogsTrust (1) DogsTrust (2)

Our old pal Jake and his lovely friend Fiona came from Dogs Trust to teach us all about owning a dog. We learned so much like:

  • A dog needs to be walked 2 a day
  • A dog needs to be fed 2 a day
  • Dogs are just like us. They like to be warm, cosy and have lots of company.

Jake also learned how to ‘Give 5’ (all 4 paws on the floor – check. Ears open, mouth closed ready to listen -check. Sitting nicely – check. Eyes on teacher – check!) Wow, he’s a fast learner. He didn’t take his eyes off the teacher and she didn’t even have a ham sandwich in her hand!
