Special Visitor

Santa Claus came to visit us today. It was so, so exciting. The boys and girls made beautiful crowns, filled their milk cartons with coins and made their way to the halla to see Santa and some of his helpers.

Santa Claus was so impressed with the the fabulous children in St. Louis that he was able to assure the teachers that ALL the children were on the nice list. Of course, this didn’t surprise the teachers one little bit. We knew they’d be on the nice list not only because of all their hard work but also for all the effort they are putting in to preparing for the Christmas concert.

Bike safety

Today we had a special visitor to our school who talked to us about cycling safely. She explained how to check our helmet fits correctly and being safe and seen by using lights and wearing high viz jackets. The boys and girls in junior infants are a very wise lot and knew all the rules to stay safe on their bikes and scooters.

Science Week 2013 – Day 1

Mr. McCormack and Sam started off Science Week with a bang splash this year. Mr. McCormack is a scientist and Sam’s dad.

They visited each class and did some really exciting experiments including an optical illusion (with a pig!), a bucket and some water to explain gravity and and a special glass ball to teach us about electricity. Thank you both very much.

November fun

Hello everybody and welcome to the 3rd month of the school year. It’s been a busy one here in Junior Infants. We’ve all settled in really well and getting to know each other.

The boys and girls in room 3 are great fun and truly magnificent artists. Today we talked about line and shape and we looked at some paintings by Kandinsky (room 1 did too!). We used these as inspiration to create colourful sculptures. Here’s a sneak peek…

Sports Day

The entire school had a great day on Sports day. We played lots of games, took part in races and an obstacle course. We finished the day off with a lovely, cool ice-pop. Yum!

Fun on the farm

Junior Infants went to Glenroe farm on Friday. It was a great day.
